We Use FieldDoc on Meadow View Farm
The Field Doc app, part of the Water Watch toolbox, measures watershed restoration impacts of best management practices at the project and parcel level.
Watershed restoration depends, in part, on landowners implementing “best management practices” to prevent excess nutrient loads or sediment from entering streams. These include livestock exclusions via fencing, riparian forest buffers, and other voluntary practices. Utilizing a model developed for the Chesapeake Bay Program, each practice is predictive of load reduction, i.e., an improvement in water quality.
Field Doc makes it possible for watershed groups and landowners to quantify improvements based on parameters like number of trees planted and stream-miles of buffer.
Each parcel on Meadow View and its BMPs are displayed on this map. As we encourage more landowners in a watershed adopt practices, a watershed map becomes an exciting, measurable illustration of improved stream health.
